ABOUT THE BLUES
The Long Island Blues is a Not-for-Profit 501C3 ice hockey organization for children and young adults with developmental disabilities such as Downs Syndrome, Autism, ADD, ADHD etc. Our program is open to players both male and female who are ineligible to participate in an existing organization due to his or her disability.
The program teaches skating and hockey skills, as well as gives the player the opportunity to play on a team sport. Prior skating or hockey experience is not required. We use the game of ice hockey to assist individuals with a disability to be more successful both within and outside a hockey environment.
Our season runs from October through March and consists of three monthly practices, visiting team games and tournaments with other Special Hockey Teams. We also celebrate together with a holiday and end of year party.
